On January 20, 2013 my dad passed away after a short battle with cancer.  It was very sudden, he didn’t know that he was sick until just over a month earlier when doctors discovered metastasized cancer throughout his body.
I am very thankful that I was able to get to South Africa with my brother and sister and to spend his last days with them by his side.  We had several amazing days where dad was fully lucid and chatty – we looked at old photos, laughed and told stories.
The day before he passed he said that “this has been a healing time” and a time for which I am truly grateful – I will miss you dad.

We were deeply moved by the loving friends that surrounded dad and without pause also drew next to us and offered support and love – thank you all.
